From carpets to cisterns, Luke relishes new challenge
It was in at the deep end for the newest recruit to global flushing specialist SIAMP.
One of sanitaryware’s leading names, SIAMP has been designing, manufacturing and distributing the world’s most practical and efficient plumbing products since 1947. But as its new South West Area Sales Manager, Luke Clifton had just six weeks to get to grips with everything there is to know about WC cisterns, valves, siphons and wall frames.
His career background to date has been in concrete and carpets, but with considerable experience in sales and production management, Luke (31) brings a valuable set of transferrable skills paired with an eagerness to embrace a new challenge.
“It feels like a new year and a new start, and it’s one I’m excited to get my teeth into,” said Luke, who lives in Somerset with his partner Clare and their three children.
“It’s a challenge for me to come into a new industry, but the people at SIAMP have been great. It’s a challenge for SIAMP too, because although we have some good established customers in the South West, it’s an area that’s ripe for growth.
“My role will be to strengthen and build on our existing relationships and generate new business across the South West, including South Wales and the Bristol area.”
Welcoming Luke on board, SIAMP MD Ashley Shires said: “We’ve been really impressed with Luke’s eagerness to immerse himself in our industry. We’ve put him through an intensive six-week induction culminating in a trip to our production facility in Monaco.
“He now knows our product range inside out and if he ever does come up against a question he can’t answer, he has the full backup of our technical team at SIAMP.”
